Book Recommend: The ParentPreneur Edge

parentpreneur.jpgI’m reading a new book, it’s the The ParentPreneur Edge by Julie Lenzer Kirk.

Julie will be on the show pretty soon and I’m looking forward to chatting with her and getting her to tell you more about why she thinks running a business is a lot like raising a child.

I happened to get two advance copies of the book so I’ve got one copy to give away. Would you like it? Leave a comment here on the blog and I’ll pick a winner from those comments in a few days :)

Update: Jennifer Knox is our winner!

Sounds like a great book, I agree, a business is like a child. I’d love to read it.

Ooh I would love to read that too. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it because Barnes & Noble is like my second home/office and I’m such a book nerd.
I’ve written several articles comparing business with childbirth and raising kids too. :)

  4. Cara says:

This sounds like a great book! And I can’t wait to hear the author on the show!

  5. Alyssa says:

ohh that sounds like a great read. I’d love it.

  6. Arika says:

OH WOW!! You know I happen to agree now that I think about it…I mean think about the time you invest in both to make them grow and send them out on their own to bring you great joy later down the road!

Anyway, I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE me a copy of that book…Might even give me the much needed boost to take a break, but I won’t feel like I’m neglecting my business baby because I’ll be learning about business, right? :)

  7. Well, I guess I’ll throw my hat in the ring too! As someone who is about to become a parent any day now, I’m struggling with how to balance my new family and my business. I’ve given birth to my business and tried to nurture it and watch it grow so I see similarities in my new role as a Mom. What interests me about this book is how someone can learn skills as a Mom and as a business owner and have them transfer easily from one role to the other.

I’d love to read this book because I think it will do a great job of clarifying my changing role as a Mom and business owner. I can’t even fathom how different my life will be in just a matter of days or weeks! :)
