Ever realize you waaaay underestimated something?

My niece’s beautiful babies came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and from the moment they came through the door it was a flurry of motion and activity and noise.

All four babies needed a diaper change and snuggle and you can bet that Sean and I were glad to be part of that!

The next eight hours was a blur of diapers and bottles, burping and snuggling – all with wide grins on our faces :)

Sean and I popped home at 3am for a short night’s sleep (four hours) and then back to the babies we went.  All the way to their house I wondered if we would come in to find Gabe and Tracy stressed out, balancing a baby in each arm…. but no! They were all asleep!  They gave Mom and Dad three hours of sleep after we left, then had breakfast and diaper changes and back to sleep they went for another couple of hours.

Nice!

I had a bit of work to do so I’m home for a little bit, then off to Target for ‘free flowing’ nipples and everything else on Tracy’s list.  Then I’m heading back for the night. (Gabe works midnights so we’ll be staying with Tracy to help out.)

All in all, it’s been quite smooth.  But I definitely underestimated the way the hours fly by when there are four sweet babies in the house.  I plan to simply surrender myself to the schedule between now and Friday morning when my sis will take over for the weekend.

Thanks to everyone who has prayed for their homecoming!!

Sounds like fun. Fun Fun. Have a good time. And enjoy the babies.

  2. Alyssa says:

My only question is “where is a picture of those babies?”

  3. It sounds like you are so happy to be close to your family and able to help as needed just like you are now. What a great Christmas blessing to have those four beautiful babies home!

  4. Good times! With four, I’m sure feeding, diapers and naps all become much like an assembly line :)

  5. Kelly, beg steal or borrow a copy of “The Happiest Baby on the block.” It’s great that they all fell asleep together, but if they don’t generally do that, this video will help. It’s awesome.

My hat is off to your whole family, especially the parents of those babies. I have the utmost respect for parents of multiples. I can’t even imagine what it’s like. It’s hard to cater to the needs of one, let alone four!! Again, hats off to you!!
