NAMS in February 2012

I’m heading back to Atlanta for the Niche Affiliate Marketing Systems conference again this year. I went in the winter of 2010, had a great time connecting with online marketer friends and I’m glad to be going again.

What is NAMS?

When you hear people talk about NAMS, they’re probably talking about the twice a year internet marketing event held in Atlanta. These days NAMS is a lot more than an event, it’s MyNAMS too – an online community and learning membership.

The NAMS events are numbered, so you may hear people referring to how they attended NAMS4 or how they missed out on NAMS6.

The upcoming event is NAMS7 and the dates are Friday, February 10th through Sunday, February 12th.

NAMS is organized into four learning tracks, each one aimed to deliver content suited to where different participants are at in their business journey. There are dozens of instructors all teaching out of their real life experience.

The event is built around the idea of being as hands on as possible. If you arrive without so much as a domain name – you could walk away with a self hosted blog and some content YOU wrote LOL!

What did I get out of it in 2010?

After eight years of working at home, going to NAMS was like attending the best summer camp ever. It was full of learning and activities, but that’s not why you enjoy it. It’s all about the friends. I got to do face time with so many people I’ve known online – some that I’ve partnered with for years.

Did I learn a lot while I was there? Oh yeah. I just can’t say I did my learning in the NAMS sessions ;) So much goes on in between, at meal time and at night. I did take lots of notes and put some great nuggets of advice into action when I got home.

Why am I going again?

Simple, I loved it. I would have gone back for all of the NAMS events if it’d been possible. I can’t wait to see everyone again and meet more long time online clients and acquaintances. When I don’t go – I feel like I’m missing out! I hunger for another taste of the ‘in person’ action.

Should you go too?

Maybe! Do you work at home on the internet and are you involved in marketing yourself? Do you want to expand and enjoy more income streams? If yes, NAMS would be a great asset to you.

How much does it cost?

The NAMS conference is pleasantly affordable compared to many other conferences I’ve checked into.

Actually BEING at the conference can be pricey. The hotel is $99 per night and you should be there four nights total. (Come in on Thursday and fly out on Monday.) It’s entirely possible to find a roommate to share this cost with. Meals at the hotel are pricey – and its not easy to get out to eat elsewhere. Yeah, you can choose to stay at a cheaper hotel – but don’t. It will lower your experience dramatically.

Depending on where you are, traveling there can be costly. (I’m flying from Lansing, Michigan for $285 – which isn’t bad.) I read on the forum that it’s best to shop for tickets on a Monday or Tuesday – so keep that in mind.

Just to lay it all out there, my costs look to be:

  • NAMS $97
  • Flight $285
  • Hotel $450 (I’ll probably end up with a roomie to split this with – but in case I don’t.)
  • Meals $250
  • Misc Unexpected $100

Estimated Total: $1182.00

This doesn’t take into account a lot of things – like the luggage I’ll buy or the new clothes I’m sure I’ll insist of getting ;) You may want to spend some more time with your budget to think about all that.

I have NO doubt that this investment pays for itself as the people I meet in person become so much more likely to do business with me in one way or another.

With all that in mind, are you in? Awesome!

First step, Join MyNAMS. It’s the online membership. Use this link and the coupon code MyNAMS85 to bring your cost down to $14.97 per month.

Once you’re in, you can buy a NAMS7 ticket for just $97.00. (If you’re not a MyNAMS member the ticket price is $497 right now.)
