Oh the Excitement for 2007!

I spent a couple more hours yesterday on planning for the new year.

I am trying out a new daily schedule for my work week.  Here it is in loose description:

Monday – Communicate with Lists Day
This is pretty self explanatory.  I’ll write newsletters and I’ll add to my autoresponders, etc.  I’ll plan all of my mailings for the week and schedule them.

Tuesday – People Day
Interviews, networking, making new contacts, making phone calls, etc. It’s not that I won’t take phone calls on other days – but this day is set aside especially for me to make phone calls to new people I want to work with, meet, etc.

Wednesday – Content Day
Writing articles, blog posts, special reports, etc.  Add content to websites and measure how existing content is performing, ie: check stats.

Thursday – Promotions Day
Communicate with and work on equipping affiliates. Work on any press release needs, contests, etc.

Friday – Project Day
Brainstorming, project development, un-interupted work time, etc.

Of course, some things happen every day like spending time at Mom Masterminds, visiting a few favorite forums and doing one on one coaching.  But my VA is taking over my email and guest scheduling tasks so that is cut out of the week.

This means that each day has one focus and a clear purpose.  And it also means that when that day’s tasks are complete – I’m done!

It should mean that I spend less time ping-ponging around between this and that and spend more time on useful activities.

I’m sure I’ll spot odd things that I haven’t incorporated into the schedule yet so I’ll work them in where they fit best as I go along.

I’m big on visuals – so I created a little sign for each day of the week and printed them out on card stock and stuck them up on my wall over my desk.  (Sean think’s I’m nuts)  The visual reminder of each day’s tasks will help me to deal with odd ball thoughts. (That is not for today!)

How about you?  Do you use a schedule like this?  Have you ever thought about it?

Kelly, thank you for sharing your new schedule! That is a great way to organize your time, and has given me some new ways to think about my work. Do you find you can stick to your plan? I find that my inspiration flows in differently each day, and I try to keep the creativity going by following the inspiration, but also to maintain productivity and goals each day. One problem I find lately is that when I have a lot of new projects, they take up so much time that I neglect the networking and connecting that I so enjoy!
