Review: Pleasantly Pleased With Volusion

Sell online with VolusionThere are so many shopping cart solutions out there that it can be confusing for first time cart shoppers.  Several people have asked me about Volusion (aff link*) in recent weeks so I decided to give it a look today.

They offer a 14 day trial with no credit card required.  I was signed up and playing with a store in minutes.

Volusion is what I call a ‘inclusive shopping cart’.  The monthly fee to use Volusion includes the cost of hosting and you manage your shopping cart products and content within their system. They provide attractive free templates (and premium templates at a price) to choose from and with the submission of your own graphics, it’s fairly easy to give it the look you desire. It manages your customers, affiliates, shipping details, inventory, etc.  It’s all in there.

Monthly costs start at $19 for 100 products and move up from there.  Some cool tools (like being able to create a fully functional eCommerce page for your Facebook page) are only available to customers who choose the $99/month option.

I found it easy to add products, easy to edit them and upload images.  There is a spot to provide a You Tube video about the product which is very cool.     It is also easy to add content pages.  There is an WYSIWYG editor for creating content.    Important to me, every product and content page can be search engine optimized.

I noticed that your Volusion store is fully mobile friendly.  That means I can browse and buy from you using my smart phone.  That is impressive.

This is the perfect choice for a physical product seller who needs to offer options during the ordering process. (Size, color, monogram, etc.) If I were selling clothing or some other hard goods product, I’d use it.

Volusion might also be an interesting choice for a digital product seller since it supports renewal pricing and offers an affiliate program.  I’d be curious to see it applied to an information product business.  If you know anyone doing this, please share a link.

*I am linking to Volusion with my affiliate link.  I stand to earn a one time $30 affiliate commission if you sign up and pay for the service.  I would still share this positive review if I weren’t an affiliate – and if I’d gotten a negative impression, I would have shared that.
