Stepping up to tell the Truth about Auto Surfing

I’m taking some heat from the Auto Surf camp over this week’s show and to tell the truth, some of the comments hurt.  But don’t worry – I am not afraid to stand up for my convictions and I know that my stand on the unethical nature of auto surfing is right on.

If auto surf were just a little bit risky (like all businesses are), if profits were not dependent on the contributions of others, if there were any real value in the advertising that they offer, if it had no potential to hurt other work at home Moms – I wouldn’t have produced this show.

But auto surf IS very risky, it IS dependent on the contributions of others, there is NO real value in the adversiting they offer and it DOES have the potential to hurt a great number of work at home Moms – so at the end of the day I’m proud to have brought attention to the situation and helped to educate as many Moms as possible.

Does that make me sanctimonious and judgemental?  Well, let’s see… sanctimonious means “affecting piousness : hypocritically devout;”  Am I hypocrite to call auto surfing unethical?  Well, if I were participating in some other unethical business, I guess you could say so.  But I’m not.  Every penny I earn comes the old fashioned way – through my own time spent at work on my business.  So,  no – sanctimonious as a word doesn’t fit the bill.

How about judgemental?  Well, have I made a judgement about auto surf? Yep. (It’s wrong)  Have I made a judgement about the people who create them? Yep. (They’re making money by taking it out of other’s pockets and delivering nothing of value in return.)  Have I made a judgement about the people who push them on others as a valid way to make money from home? Yep. (They have seen with their own eyes that many lose money in the end – and keep promoting it.)

Looks like judgemental fits.

When someone says ‘Oh you’re so judgemental’ – why is that supposed to make me feel bad?  I AM JUDGING auto surf.  I am JUDGING those who created it.  I am JUDGING those who after having seen the potential it has to hurt others – still promote it.

Who ever said that we are not supposed to judge whether or not something is right? That’s a load of crap and I’m not buying into it.  We all make judgements every day about what is right and what is wrong and we should!

Now – if you take judgement too far and start to say that someone’s actions or behaviors make the person bad – you’re going too far and that is not what I’m about.  I’m not saying that people who are involved in auto surf are bad people.  If being told that you’re doing something wrong makes you ’feel bad’ – I would say that that’s your consious talking to you.

I know you’re a Christian person Kelly so I’ll say this: judgmental is something weak Christians say to people with strong consciences. They call you judgmental hoping it will hurt your feelings. But there is nothing wrong with being judgmental, meaning that you call a wrong thing, wrong. Jesus was judgmental. Now as a person I don’t have the authority to judge someone else’s future like God does, but I *can* call a wrong act a wrong act according to biblical standards.

So don’t worry about that. It’s a cheap shot. :)

It’s interesting that those who are calling you and I judgmental are more than just a little judgmental right back. I wouldn’t deny that I’m judgmental. I can look at a situation and make a judgment on it.

I see a bunch of moms, fully aware that there is an FBI investigation into a business they continue to promote in their subject lines. And when you want to draw attention to it – they trow back personal insults and violent threats.

Anyway, just come join me and Jason Moffatt in our latest Fonzi Scheme. You won’t be sorry. :-)

  3. My Dh always says that taking a stand for something will always cost you something. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t mean anything!

    You go girl!

Great I that it was a great show!! Good for you standing up for what you believe in!

Chris my grandfather had a similiar saying “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.!” I believe in that 100%!

Glad that the feedback didn’t get to ya! :) Kelly you ROCK!
