Do Not Despise Those Tiny Amazon Commissions

I’m guilty of this myself, I check my Amazon Associates Central reports and see that I earned four pennies on a small purchase and wrinkle my nose.  “Oh big deal!”

But hey, this is a bad attitude!  Yes, Amazon commissions on many everyday products are quite small.  They do add up though, especially this time of year.

Remember that your commission rate changes as your number of referred sales increase.  So a lot of those tiny commissions end up boosting your overall commission profits in the end.

This month I’m seeing quite a few teensy Kindle book commissions and all together I’m surprised if I hit $2 on that, but they’ve helped me nudge up into a higher commission rate overall and that means a 2 or 2.5% increase on the other sales that aren’t so small.

Keep it in mind and keep on sharing those relevant, useful recommendations!

Very clever thinking! Especially since Amazon commission percentages are based on units sold not dollar volume. In that case, every single sale counts!

I remember my first Amazon payout. Totally surprised as I hadn’t been checking on my reports and the sales came from a website I hadn’t posted to lately. Lots of smaller sales led to the check!

Hi Kelly – Over the past 9 months I’ve consistently gotten an affiliate payout from Amazon. Some of it comes directly from my websites. But lately, quite a bit of it has come in from articles I’ve written on Squidoo. On Squidoo I only link to cheapie ebooks, but you’re 100% right in saying that those commissions add up quickly.

My suggestion is that you drop a few links in to your blog posts and articles whenever you can. You’ll be surprised at how often people click on those links and order products.
